Peter talks to Chris Hurst about all things LFC
What are your thoughts on Liverpool`s semi final victory against Roma over the 2 legs and how confident are you that we can lift No.6 in Kyiv?
Liverpool had a job to do and done it, even after the first leg I was very confident of us progressing, there was no way they were gonna score 3 without us scoring any, result on the night was disappointing but the result over the 2 legs is what matters. Going into the final we have to just play our own game and not worry or go into it thinking about them too much, on our day we can beat anyone I just hope we keep our cool and don’t let the occasion effect us to much, but I’m sure we can do it!
Please win, just go there get 3 points get top 4 wrapped up so we can relax and look forward to the final maybe rest a few players in the run in.
Could a potential spot in the UCL final prove to be a distraction for Klopp’s side?
It’d be foolish to think it wouldnt, after all the lads are only human, but they have to remain professional an concentrate as I said top 4 isn’t guaranteed yet.
Will Liverpool suffer heavy legs after their exerts in mid-week at Roma?
I don’t think they will suffer, it was a great game and they worked hard but with the game being on Sunday I think that’s more than enough time for the lads to rest up.
Where are you expecting Chelsea to cause Liverpool problems?
For the first time ever I’m genuinely not concerned, they’re a good side and have some great players but we’ve proven we can do it v anyone so Chelsea will be no different.
Do you think they have any chance of stopping Mo Salah?
Yes they have, Utd have shown he and the front 3 can be stopped, never this season have I seen the front 3 so far apart than I did v Utd so if Chelsea take anything from that they have a chance, but like anything, saying it is one thing but doing it is quite another.
Liverpool remain strong favourites to qualify for next season’s Champions League via a top four finish – but will Chelsea force us to sweat a little longer after their victory of Swansea …are you feeling confident?
I’m feeling confident only in the way of unlike stoke and west brom who are both fighting for survival, we did rest a few so hopefully we will field our strongest team an get the job done.
Klopp will be without his trusted assistant Zeljko Buvac for the remainder of the season after taking leave of absence due to personal reasons. How much of an impact will this have? Has he been pivotal to Liverpool’s success?
Depends who you listen to, some saying it’s not personal reasons and they have fallen out and haven’t really spoke for a number of weeks, if that’s the case we we’ve done ok so far, but it’s a 17 year relationship so of course klopp will miss him regardless of reason, but also like any other job he still has to do his, he’s the manager so he has to make sure whatever is happening off the field doesn’t effect what’s happening on it.
Has this season’s success surpassed the expectations of the fans?
Our run in Europe has certainly surpassed everyone’s expectations defo, the league however, not for me mate, some results have been hard to take so in the league there’s very much room for improvement in my opinion.
Is this the start of a Liverpool revolution that will see the club go toe to toe with the likes of Man City for the PL title next year?
For too many years I’ve seen Liverpool on the cusp on something great Peter then see it dwindle away and we don’t capitalise on our success, hopefully we bring home number 6 then Europes elite will want to play for this club and this manager I just hope that for once the owners match the fans expectations should we need to bring in some quality in the summer then we will show everyone what we’re all about.
