Liverpool will look to bounce back from their shock draw with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield when they head north and take a trip to St. James’ Park to play Newcastle United on Wednesday.

Although the Reds still fit firmly at the top of the Premier League table, Jurgen Klopp will demand that his side focus and win all three points on offer when they visit the Magpies.

However, and not for the first time this season, the current Champions will need to play against a side without some of their best players. Nonetheless, bettors will likely consider the Anfield side to be favourites to overcome the challenge on Wednesday and those that do should look to find the best new customer betting promotions available to them for the contest.

Thiago Alcantara does not look any closer to returning to action as Klopp revealed that he does not look as though he will be in a position to feature against Newcastle.

The Spanish midfielder was expected to return to full training on Monday after recovering from the knee injury that has kept him out since the middle of October, however he has not trained as much as his manager would have liked and the fixture appears to have come around too early for him.

“I like watching all my boys playing and with Thiago, of course he had a few minutes, I would say, until he got injured,” Klopp said to the club’s official website.

“So of course we are looking forward to that, but I don’t know. It’s not really likely that he will travel [to Newcastle], let me say it like this.

“He needs a few sessions, he was really out for a long time after a really harsh challenge – that was a proper impact. Nothing ruptured, nothing broken, but that still took time obviously and it still takes time. We cannot rush that, we will not do. So I don’t know.”

Thiago has not been able to feature for the Reds since the fiery Merseyside derby in which he was one of a few players to have been on the wrong end of a rather bad challenge from an Everton player. The Spaniard was chopped down by Richarlison in a tackle that would see the Brazilian brandished with a red card and issue an apology.

There have already been some glowing performances from the former Bayern Munich man, therefore many will be hoping to see him back in action on the pitch sooner than later.

In other injury news, Naby Keita does not look likely to make the match against Newcastle either, whilst Joel Matip will be doubtful as he needed to come off against WBA due to a knock he picked up in the game against the Baggies.

Speaking about Keita, Klopp said: “He felt a muscle again. I don’t know exactly how long [it will be], but he was not ready for today and not for Wednesday, I think. We will see.”
