World Cup
With World Cup football just weeks away, a number of Liverpool players will be in action during the weekend as they prepare for Russia.
Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren will face off against each other at Anfield on Saturday as Brazil get their World Cup preparation underway against Croatia.
Jordan Henderson’s England will be in action on Saturday as they face Nigeria at home. It’s unclear whether Henderson will take part or not as he joined the England camp later than the squad due to the Champions League final.
Meanwhile, Egypt coach Hector Cuper is optimistic about the country’s campaign despite Mohamed Salah being a doubt for the first game against Uruguay.
Cuper: “After Salah’s injury I am still optimistic ahead of the 2018 World Cup finals. Injuries are an ordinary thing in football, but we are bidding on the players’ ability of passing such difficult moments.”
Transfer News
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has no interest in moving to Liverpool. Reports emerged that Chelsea were planning on selling the keeper after he refused to sign a contract extension.
The clubs stance on Alisson may change over the next few weeks with the reds adamant on signing a new goalkeeper. It’s looking clear that Karius’ time as the number one keeper will slowly come to an end after his catastrophic performance against Real Madrid.
Another potential target for Jurgen Klopp this summer is Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. Dembele has been out of favour with Barcelona and a potential loan bid could go in for the French international.
Lyon and Liverpool have had advanced talks over Nabil Fekir although no offer has yet be put in. Lyon’s President wishes for a move to be completed after the World Cup whereas Liverpool and Fekir’s representatives want a move done before the tournament begins.
