According to a new transfer speculation from Italy, Liverpool are interested in acquiring Nicolo Barella in a swap deal with Naby Keita this summer.
Last season, Barella started 36 of his team’s 38 league games, scoring three times and earning a tremendously amazing 12 assists, underlining his quality as a top five player in the squad, according to Whoscored.
The Inter player also won Euro 2020 with Italy last summer, earning high plaudits for his performance, and he is now linked with a move to Liverpool!
Barella has long been a target of the Liverpool dynasty, and he is a major component in Simone Inzaghi’s smooth Inter outfit, which fought Liverpool on all fronts in last season’s Uefa Champions League.
Barella has been linked with a move to Anfield for some time now, fueling speculation that the 25-year-old is on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
The midfielder does everything you can do with a football with a never-say-die mentality, but it’s his pushing and work rate that make him the most appealing option for Liverpool’s midfield.
Liverpool clearly need to strengthen their engine room in the centre of the park this summer, and Barella would be a more than adequate replacement for rumoured target Jude Bellingham.
Nonetheless, players from Italy have previously struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League, and if Liverpool are to trade Keita for a significant transfer price, this must be sorted out!
Nonetheless, according to Calciomercato, the Reds are prepared to trade Keita in exchange for Barella this summer, with Jurgen Klopp unable to pay Inter’s asking price of £77 million.
The Italian’s performance for Inter is said to have ‘bewitched’ the Liverpool boss, who wants to buy him ‘at any cost.’
Barella would be an excellent addition for Liverpool, adding so much natural skill to the midfield as he enters his prime years.
Last year, football talent scout Jacek Kulig said of him, “Stamina, desire, and drive paired with exceptional technical ability.” One of the world’s top box-to-box midfielders, and he’ll only grow better. Barella is fantastic.”
Indeed, he is much more than a luxury midfielder with technical skills, averaging 1.8 tackles per game in the league last season, which would place him fourth in the Liverpool team.
Klopp dubbed the Italian’really excellent,’ saying he loves him ‘a lot’ since he ‘can run for years,’ and considering Keita’s significant injury record, this appears to be a deal worth investigating.
